Biography
Israeli-Belgian-American mezzo-soprano Mala Weissberg continues to establish herself as a versatile artist across opera, concert, and early music repertoire. In summer 2026, she joins the prestigious Britten Pears Young Artist Programme at the Aldeburgh Festival, appears as an Emerging Artist at the Internationale Meistersinger Akademie (IMA), and sings the role of Stรฉphano in Gounod's Romรฉo et Juliette with Park City Opera in Utah.
Recent engagements include her debut with the Oper Kรถln in the title role of Gisle Kverndokk's Max und Moritz. A passionate advocate for early music, she has appeared as Lisea in Vivaldi's Arsilda, regina di Ponto with Opera Neo, as a guest soloist at the Innsbrucker Festwochen der Alten Musik, and as a finalist with Ensemble I Gemelli at the 2025 Concours International de Chant Baroque de Froville. Additional performances include the role of Fernando in Vivaldi's rarely performed Motezuma and appearances as a guest soloist in Love, Beauty, and Death in Venice with Tafelmusik Baroque Orchestra in Toronto.
Her operatic roles include Hรคnsel (Hรคnsel und Gretel), Prince Orlofsky (Die Fledermaus), Miles (The Turn of the Screw), Dorabella (Cosรฌ fan tutte), Angelina (La Cenerentola), Le Prince Charmant (Cendrillon), Ino (Semele), and the title role in Cendrillon.
