Biography
Israeli-Belgian-American mezzo-soprano Mala Weissberg spent the spring and summer of 2025 as an Apprentice Artist with Opera Neo in San Diego, performing the role of Fernando in Vivaldiβs rarely heard Motezuma. She also appeared at the Youngbaroque concert at the prestigious Innsbrucker Festwochen der Alten Musik as part of her 2024 Cesti Baroque Competition award.
Recent performance highlights include her appearance with ensemble I Gemelli as a finalist in the 2025 Concours international de chant baroque de Froville, and as guest soloist in Love, Beauty, and Death in Venice with Torontoβs Tafelmusik Baroque Orchestra. Her repertoire includes roles such as HΓ€nsel (HΓ€nsel und Gretel), Miles (The Turn of the Screw), Dorabella (CosΓ¬ fan tutte), Angelina (La Cenerentola), Le Prince Charmant (Cendrillon), Ino (Semele), and Cendrillon (Cendrillon), among others.
Upcoming engagements include singing Prince Orlofsky in Die Fledermaus with the Jerusalem Symphony Orchestra as part of the ViennaβTel Aviv Vocal Connections, and making her Oper KΓΆln debut in the title role of Moritz in Max und Moritz by Gisle Kverndokk.
